Biking
The best way to get around Folly Field
Hilton Head has over 60 miles of paved bike paths, and the Folly Field path connects directly to the beach and nearby shopping. Bike rentals are available from several local outfitters with delivery to your rental. Plan on $20–35/day for a standard beach cruiser.
Golf carts
Fun and practical for short trips
Street-legal golf carts are popular on Hilton Head and can be rented by the day or week. They're perfect for trips to the beach, nearby restaurants, and the grocery store. Many rental companies offer delivery.
Rental car
Best for exploring the whole island
If you plan to visit multiple beaches, golf courses, or restaurants across the island, a car is the most flexible option. Rental agencies are available at the Hilton Head Airport and in Bluffton. Parking is generally easy outside of peak summer.
Rideshare
Uber and Lyft are available
Uber and Lyft both operate on Hilton Head Island. Wait times can be longer during peak season, especially late at night. Tipping is appreciated — drivers often travel from the mainland.
Walking
Great within Folly Field
The Folly Field neighborhood is walkable to the beach, a few restaurants, and the bike path. For anything further, you'll want wheels.
Getting to Hilton Head
By air
Hilton Head Airport (HHH) offers direct flights from several East Coast cities. Savannah/Hilton Head International (SAV) is about 45 minutes away and has more flight options.
By car
Hilton Head is about 2.5 hours from Charlotte, 4 hours from Atlanta, and 1 hour from Savannah. US-278 is the main route onto the island — expect traffic on summer weekends.
By shuttle
Several shuttle services run between Savannah Airport and Hilton Head. Book in advance during peak season.
